Director’s Statement

I am committed to presenting the untold stories of the brave firefighters of the city of Santa Monica. I believe it is my duty and a privilege to present their stories in a manner that not only emotionally engages but also demonstrates to our viewers the risks and inherent dangers of the profession.

My goal is to pay tribute to their enduring 150+ year legacy and the sacrifices made for the safety of the Santa Monica community. The tireless dedication and relentless bravery of these individuals should be acknowledged and honored within this documentary.

This project is especially significant as it will be dedicated to Santa Monica Fire Engineer Dominic Smith, a remarkable individual and part of the firefighting family, who tragically passed away from occupation-related cancer in August 2023. It is our fervent hope that through this documentary, we can honor his memory and the indomitable spirit of all firefighters who put their lives on the line every day.

As a first-time director, this project holds immense personal and professional significance for me. This journey into documentary filmmaking is a new and exciting venture, and while I am aware of the challenges ahead, I am prepared to dedicate my utmost effort and passion to ensure the success of this project. I hope that you will support me on this journey as I aim to tell this inspiring story with the respect and attention it deserves.
